The Effect of Mitral Valve Prostheses Design and Orientation on Left Ventricular Flow during Left Ventricular Assist Device Support

چکیده

The mitral valve affects the shape and timing of incoming flow to left ventricle heart, establishing a strong central jet that generates vortex ring conserves momentum during cardiac cycle. When is disrupted, regions stasis are introduced increase blood residence time risk thrombus formation. This increased when multiple medical devices combined, as occurs in fraction patients with prostheses experience heart failure receive treatment ventricular assist device (LVAD). LVADs attached directly apex ventricle, continuously pumping from into ascending aorta. While ameliorate symptoms failure, they associated thromboembolic events result disrupted flow. In this study, six different prosthesis designs/orientations were studied combination LVAD support mock circulatory loop. Hemodynamics intraventricular velocity field measured characteristics determined. bioprosthetic produced standard pattern dominant clockwise circulated within before exiting through LVAD. tilting disk exhibited skewed inflow reverse oriented towards septum, which greatly time. bileaflet valves split two streams directed but weaker vortices than bioprosthesis. results inform surgical planning for preexisting prostheses, enabling concomitant repair procedures would decrease events.

Design an Equivalent Left Ventricular Assist Device for Medical Equipment Labs

LVAD is a mechanical pump supporting a weak heart function and blood flow. Sometimes, the heart may not recover fast enough to take over the pumping action immediately after surgery, in such patients a temporary support device has been employed to maintain the pumping action until the patient’s own heart recovers. This device can be considered as a temporary alternative before the process of ar...

Axial-Flow, Transvalvular Left Ventricular Assist Device

Background. It has been suggested that left ventricular unloading at the time of reperfusion provides superior infarct salvage over reperfusion alone. The purpose of this study was to show that the Hemopump transvalvular axial-flow left ventricular assist device provides superior left ventricular unloading, ischemic zone collateral blood flow, and infarct size reduction compared with intra-aort...

Improvement of Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) in Artificial Heart Using Particle Swarm Optimization

In this approach, the Left ventricular assist pump for patients with left ventricular failure isused. The failure of the left ventricle is the most common heart disease during these days. Inthis article, a State feedback controller method is used to optimize the efficiency of a samplingpump current. Particle Swarm Algorithm, which is a set of rules to update the position andvelocity, is applied...
